Chelsea Target Could Be Valued As High As €50m For The Upcoming Transfer Window

Chelsea are in talks with Shaktar Donetsk to sign their attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira. The Brazilian midfielder got noticed by the Premier League Champions after an impressive performance with 26 goals in 25 appearances in the matches till date during the year 2015-2016.

“If he were playing in a more competitive league, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria,” added Mircea Lucescu.

Talking about the recent transfer of Angel Di Maria player who moved to Manchester United from real Madrid in 2014 for £59.7m and then went on to PSG for £44m, the Shaktar Manager states that Teixeira’s transfer too would have been of the same level had he been in a better league.

The Brazilian player has been currently valued at €40m [£29m] for the January transfer window. However, if the transfer does not happens in January and if Teixeira’s performance remains the same i.e., if he maintains his form, then the Club will be increasing the value to €50m [£36.3m].

Speaking to Brazilian outlet Lance! In November, Teixeira admitted he is desperate to seal a “dream” move to the Premier League.

“What I saw and what my manager said was that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG made proposals. I’m glad to have received the proposal of Chelsea as they are a big club in Europe, but my manager will sort that.

‘It’s my dream, I have spoken to many people who have the desire to play in the Premier League, because I think it’s the best championship, the most competitive.”

But if Chelsea wish to sign the Brazilian to help address their faltering season, they will have to pay top dollar. “Alex is now worth more than €40m,” Shakhtar boss Lucescu was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato Web. “I think at the end of the season, were he to continue with this level of performance – his value will be €50m.”
