Chelsea have been all over the place this season. With their defence in shambles and a title run this season seems like a distant dream now, Chelsea needs to start winning to get back in the top four. Jose Mourinho will be looking to shake things up against the young Southampton side this weekend. But then again it will be a hard task since their morale is at its lowest now. Chelsea will be looking to end their losing streak and ease up the pressure that has been building up on their manager in recent weeks. We can expect a lot of changes in the lineup which might bring in the results required.
Rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the premier league, he will be expected to live up to his expectations. His defence have let him down a lot this season and he has been left high and dry looking for clean sheets. With Courtois’ absence, he has a chance to prove himself again and pull Chelsea out of the abyss.
Azpilicueta, Zouma, Terry, Rahman
The Chelsea captain might be given the nod to prove himself yet again after being criticized by none other than Mourinho himself. It will be good to see Zouma and Terry marshalling the Chelsea defence after a long time, which might be good for Zouma to have an experienced campaigner by his side. Baba Rahman deserves a start on the left hand side which might help Chelsea to widen the game out a little bit and play with a lot of energy on the flanks along with Azpilicueta on the right.
Fagregas, Matic, Hazard, Pedro, Oscar.
Although Loftus-Cheek and Kenedy deserve a start after displaying their talents whenever they have been called up, Mourinho would most likely prefer is regular midfield starters. Matic-Fabregas will continue to play ahead of the back four as the midfield pivot. They have been sluggish and there have been no real penetration through any defence this season. Pedro and Hazard will continue to play through the right and left while Oscar can start in the middle. The likes of Willian and Ramires should start from the bench.
Remy
With Costa out of action due to a 3 match suspension, Remy is the only viable option right now. Falcao has been a liability and we don’t know how much time he will require to adapt to the premier league. So a substitute appearance is the most likely for him.
The one person who really needs to bring it to the game is Mourinho himself. He hasn’t been sharp this season and he is not looking like the special one anymore. So we might see some crazy tactical brilliance from the man himself. Let’s hope this week turns out to be a good one for the Blues.
