While all the media attention has been focused on Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, there have been other players linked with a move to Chelsea. This rumour will certainly wipe that smirk Tottenham Hotspur fans have on their face while seeing the events of the Fabregas saga unfold. They always like Arsenal fans going into a major meltdown, which is exactly what is happening at the moment.
However, GiveMeSport, have delivered some bad news to Spurs fans as their beloved Sandro is subject to interest from the Blues. It’s a peculiar rumour because the website have suggested that Tottenham are trying to get rid of Sandro despite the fact that he’s a fan favourite. Known for his cracking goals and real aggression in his tackles. There’s clearly not a lot to hate in that brief description.
However, Sandro isn’t a player I want at Chelsea. Nothing personal, I just don’t think he’s good enough to play consistently in the Blues’ starting XI. But, there are a couple of other factors that put me off. The first being his reported fee of £15 million if any potential suitor wanted to buy him. I certainly don’t think he’s worth anywhere near that fee. If Chelsea were to pay that much, I’d classify it as one of the most idiotic decisions the club has made in recent years.
Another reason for my reluctancy to see him in a Chelsea shirt is because we already have Nemanja Matic, and he shouldn’t be competing for a place in the team with Sandro. There is that argument about the depth he’ll bring, but there’s better for cheaper. Although buying from rivals gives you a unique feeling you just don’t get with other signings.
Lastly, his injury record is horrible. He can barely stay in the club’s rota for longer than a few months due to his persistent injuries that keep him out for long periods of time. Whenever I check up on him, he’s either close to returning from injury or he’s picked up a knock. Now that’s £15 million you really don’t want to spend.
