Roman Abramovich Partnership Is A Good Thing For Chelsea

As is the case with many owners these days, they tend to have more than just one investment in the world of sport. Stan Kroenke, of Arsenal, owns the Colorado Rapids in the MLS and the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. Sheikh Mansour of Manchester City also owns the new MLS side, New York City. Our Roman Abramovich had affiliations with CSKA Moscow, but that quickly disintegrated. However, Abramovich is extremely influential in the national side and is a main sponsor for the National Academy of Football.

According to Talksport, Abramovich is set to venture into Spanish football by taking over RCD Mallorca who currently reside in the Segunda Division. This comes after narrowly missing out on relegation to the third tier of Spanish football. Mallorca are in a financial mess, but they do possess a coveted academy; brimming with young stars. If Abramovich was to invest in Mallorca then he could build bridges between Chelsea and them for players to walk across.

It is hoped that with this potential take-over, it could see a number of promising youngsters from Mallorca transfer to the Blues as a gift back to Abramovich for saving them from financial ruin. In my opinion, this could be a sound investment if Jose Mourinho changes his tune in regards to promoting young talent.

Mallorca have a fantastic bunch of players including; Brandon Thomas Llamas, Cedric Omoigui and Marco Asensio. The three names mentioned by Talksport who could swap Spain for England due to their recognition among the Mallorcan hierarchy.

This has the potential to benefit Chelsea as they will be able to acquire some of the brightest young stars Spanish football has to offer. It’s just a case of whether Mourinho will give them a chance or whether they’ll just be loaned out season after season.
