Chelsea Star Opting For Stay Is Great News

I remember talking about Eden Hazard a while back when he was strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain and writing something along the lines of the potential stupidity of Jose Mourinho for letting his Belgian star go. Highlighting the case of Juan Mata to support my point of Mourinho not being afraid to let the star player go if he doesn’t fit his system. Thankfully, I won’t be calling the Blues boss stupid any time soon as Hazard has dropped a huge hint he’ll be remaining at the club for the foreseeable future.

Talksport and a number of other huge publications have used Hazard’s comments as material to state that the Belgian will be at the club next season. It’s as if the comments by Hazard were made with him unbeknownst to the rumours of PSG wanting his name at their club. The 23-year-old didn’t actually deny the PSG links, but his intentions are clear by claiming that he’ll be wearing the number 10 jersey next season. He’s happy with this as it is his favourite number.

Mourinho, correctly, cited the fact that Hazard’s defensive contributions cost Chelsea any chance of Champions League or Premier League glory. Obviously he didn’t just blame Hazard, but he wasn’t very happy with him which was made clear.

But, the Belgian international is the kind of player you simply have to play even if he doesn’t fit the team’s style because he is that good and he is that important in his specialised field of work, attack. He carried Chelsea’s attacking threat this season and he did that by creating chances time and time again.

His ability on the ball and being able to craft attacks is simply incredible. The diversity in his play is what troubles defenders the most as they simply don’t know what to do next.
