Why Chelsea Should Re-Sign This Former Striker As Soon As They Can

Every so often you get a physical specimen so good that there is no change from their peak years to their current one. No matter what their age, they can perform as good as any player younger than themselves. If that player loves the club that gave him a stage to show the world what he can do then he’s an indispensable option even when he’s no longer with the club.

The reason why I say this is because they’ll always jump at a chance to re-sign for the club and they’re likely to re-capture the form that earned them a name.

Didier Drogba is a name that certainly springs to mind when this discussion arises. An absolute legend of Chelsea football club and one that is love with them. However, Drogba has spent some time in Turkey and China since his move away from Chelsea in 2012. Enjoying relatively successful spells at Shanghai Shenhua and Galatasaray.

However, the Daily Mail have reported that Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in taking the Ivorian back to the Premier League. But the Turkish giants are aiming to keep the Chelsea legend at the club by laying a one-year contract extension on the table for him to sign.

Chelsea should go all out to bring back the 36-year-old and here’s why.

Firstly, the current crop of Chelsea simply haven’t performed as well as they should have done this season. A couple are set to leave in the summer but it would be well advised if Chelsea brought back Drogba to guide any new striker that the Blues will bring into the club. Guidance which Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o haven’t had since moving to Stamford Bridge.

Drogba will also be very cheap and, as Chelsea fans know, he’ll add a goal or two when it matters most. The Premier League know and fear him and thus I think he could turn out to be a great summer addition. He will add some quality depth and experience to the side who will be chasing silverware next season after missing out on all this time around.
