After Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle, here are three things that Jose Mourinho and the Blues’ fans can take from the tie.
1) Luiz is still a shoddy defender
The Brazilian has been at fault for numerous chances over the last few weeks and the Blues fans would have been worried before kick off as to what would happen. Luiz was clumsy, positionally-poor and gave the ball away on a few occasions where it wasn’t necessary.
To say that he’s a midfielder is something that Mourinho has to judge, but for me he’s not a natural defender.
2) Shooting practice is in order
The Blues had 13 shots at goal during the game but just two hit the target. A first half header from Terry looked to be going in but was stopped, and Willian’s strike in the closing 10 minutes also came close.
The west London club have struggled up top so far this season and they need to hit the target with what they create to make up for the lack of presence up front, in my eyes.
3) Terry is still a boss
This season has been a brilliant one so far for the skipper and he had another good game at St James’ Park on Saturday. Not only did he hit the woodwork and have an effort saved, but he also made 11 clearances and completed 93% of his 73 attempted tackles.
