Martinez & Pogba both on Mourinho’s radar – Could this spark the end for Torres?

Jose Mourinho’s dealings in the upcoming transfer window will be largely scrutinised no matter what the outcome. The Special One generates abuse wherever he goes because of his self belief and somewhat tiresome ego, and transfer dealing are just the spark which lights the fire. While he has heard the fans’ concerns over some of his team selections regarding Juan Mata and Kevin de Bruyne, the Mirror are reporting that the Blues are looking into the possibility of signing both Jackson Martinez and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

With a fee of £20m being suggested for the services of Pogba, and £25m for Pogba’s signature, there’s a strong chance that the signings – should they transpire – would have a huge say in where  the Premier League title ends up in May.

And it could have a say on the future of Fernando Torres, also.

Samuel Eto’o signed for the club in the summer so isn’t going anywhere soon, despite some Chelsea fans wishing so. So, with Demba Ba falling down the pecking order it leaves him and Fernando Torres as the most dispensable strikers at the club. With Mourinho’s preference to play one up top, or none up top sometimes, and the potential arrival of Martinez – who is a traditional target man – Torres’ future looks bleak.

The Colombian international scored 34 goals in 43 games last season and has scored three in three this term.

Pogba played 27 games for Juventus last season and scored five goals.
