1) Choices
Although Mourinho isn’t blessed with options in his forward berths, Ba is certainly bottom of the pecking order. Fernando Torres has started to fire again and Samuel Eto’o has scored his first in a Chelsea shirt, and with Mourinho experimenting with Andre Schurrle up top it’s unlikely that Ba will feature too much from now until the end of the year.
2) January
Which brings us on to the second point – the January transfer window. The big names being thrown around in the summer with a move to the Bridge were short-lived, but there are still options out there. Jackson Martinez of Porto, Robert Lewandowski of Dortmund and Atletico’s Diego Costa have all been mentioned with moves in the new year, and if the Special One can secure a deal for any three of them then they would instantly be implemented as the first choice striker.
3) Goals
Ba has never been a prolific scorer. He scored just twice in 14 games for the Blues last season and is yet to find the net this time round in his two games.
