Arriving in west London from Benfica in 2010, Chelsea’s midfield general Ramirez has established himself as a key member of the side. The 26-year-old has already played 160 games for the Blues in the three and bit seasons that he has been available to the club and the fans love him.
Blessed with huge levels of energy and stamina levels of a long distance runner, Ramires has bossed the Chelsea midfield since the day he arrived. Although once labelled as a frail, mistake-ridden player, he has almost held the bite that is needed to cut it in the Premier League.
As well as possessing the ability to strip the opposition of the ball and winning the ball in the air despite his slight frame, Ramires then has the option to drive forward or pick a pass.
Last season the Brazil international played 35 games for the Blues and completed 85% of his passes as well as winning 85/112 of his tackles. He scored five league goals and created 20 chances for his team-mates.
This season he has already made 10 key passes in his league outings, while completing 87% of his passes. He has won 21/24 of his tackles and 7/11 of his headers.
Take Ramires out of any side and it is instantly weaker. The aggression in his game compliments the technique of Frank Lampard and his decision making gets the best out of the club’s attacking options, proving to be a real midfield general.
