While we head into the final months of the year, sights are set on who will be going where during the January transfer window. Here are three players I think Chelsea should be looking at in the new year.
1) Eliquim Mangala – Porto
The giant defender is exactly what the Blues need to replace John Terry should he leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has the strength, the presence and the ball control of someone who is destined for the top and Stamford Bridge is the best place to do so, in my opinion.
Gary Cahill is doing a fine job alongside Terry right now and Mourinho also has David Luiz to call upon, but Mangala is a different specimen altogether.
2) Jackson Martinez – Porto
The Colombian is a bullish centre-forward who has a natural eye for goal. Last season Martinez scored 34 goals in 43 games for the Portuguese side and has scored three in three this term.
Although not particularly quick, Martinez is a typical Mourinho player who can hold the ball up, hustle defenders and make life difficult.
3)Paul Pogba – Juventus
A sturdy central player who we are seeing the best of in Italy. Released by Manchester United, Pogba has flourished in France and would be ideal to play alongside Ramires in the middle.
