The club has done its transfer business early, signing hot prospects Andre Schurrle and Marco van Ginkel as well as bringing in experienced goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer to keep Petr Cech on his toes. Chelsea have not yet made a marquee signing and now that strikers Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani have moved to Monaco and Paris Saint Germain respectively. Fernando Torres only managed eight Premier League goals last season, but young Romelu Lukaku will be looking to step up to the first team after a stellar season at West Brom, but he is not currently good enough to become Chelsea’s first choice forward just yet.
Chelsea have nothing to worry about when it comes to the midfield though, creative talents Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Oscar combine very well and Frank Lampard will be on hand to boss the midfield and push up from deep to score goals.
Mourinho has a plethora of quality players to choose from and if he can shore up the defence, then he may well have the Premier League trophy in his hands at the end of the season.
