Eden Hazard – 7.30
Ever since announcing he would become a Chelsea player on Twitter last summer, he has had a lot to live up to, and it seems he has, collecting thewhoscored.com Chelsea player of the season, with an impressive 7.30 average rating last season.
He has many people’s choice to join us at the Bridge due to his flexibility across the midfield, playing comfortably in both the centre, and the left or right attacking midfield positions, though the large majority of them came from the left side of the trio this year.
Again, like Mata, plaudits have been at a minimum, but whilst in the same team as an ever-improving Juan Mata, it is slightly expected, and Chelsea fans won’t care
Hazard arguably had a better first season than Mata did, Eden scored 9 and set-up 11 goals this season and collected a massive 5 MoM awards. It could well have been a better season had be continued his early season form, where he managed four assists and a goal inside 3 games.
His average rating no doubt down to his consistency, putting in 7 matches at a rating of over 8.0, including a near on perfect game at home to West Ham United.
Its not often you can say a player has a perfect game, but Hazard scored, set up the other, and cleared the ball off the line in a game which was undoubtedly going to end with him sipping the celebratory champagne, with a massive rating of 9.94.
Not to be outdone, he managed 5 shots, 4 on target, while also completing 4 key passes. He may well have added to the goals an assists tally had Jaaskeleinen not been in top form, as he was rated 7.9 in a team that averaged less than 6.6.
Hazard will certainly be a central figure in attack for us in the next couple of years along with Juan Mata, and with the addition of a natural goal scorer, we may well have the complete package in the forward areas.
If question marks had been raised over his signed from Lille last summer, they undoubtedly will have been put to bed now, and hopefully next season we will be sure to back up his decision to turn down both Manchester clubs for the Bridge.
Do you agree with Hazard the Number 1 spot? If not, who should have got it, and where should Hazard have finished?
