Reading are the first visitors to the Bridge this season, in a repeat of the game that caused Petr Cech’s horrendous head injury.
The Royals are enjoying Premier League football for the first time since 2007/08, where they were relegated, just one season after finishing eighth in their debut season in the top flight.
Three of the last four games between these two have ended in Chelseas favour, although a 2-2 draw was played out at this ground in December 2006, which will give the away fans some hope.
We spoke to a huge fan of Reading before tonights game, Matt Watson, who is from Reading but currently resides at Swansea University, and can be found on Twitter @mattwatson100.
Hi there Matt, Reading are finally back in the big time, and started off with a 1-1 draw at Stoke, what is the realistic aim for you to finish this season?
Realistically… 17th. Both of the teams that have come up with us as well as the ones who struggled to stay up last year have strengthened well. Last time we were here and came 8th first season, which was a freak occurrence, so as long as we stay up ill be happy.
Who out of your summer signings are you looking forward to seeing in action most?
Tough choice between Pogrebnyak and Guthrie. Pog did well for Fulham at the end of last season so will be interesting to see if he can sustain form across the whole campaign. and Guthrie was only kept out of the team at Newcastle due to injury and the form of Tiote, so as long as he can stay fit…
Now, onto Chelsea and the game, If you could take one of Chelsea’s current squad, who would it be and why?
Ashley Cole. Definitely one of the best left backs in the world, if not the best. Also, our wing backs are unconvincing for me
What do you think the score will be on Wednesday? and who will score?
I think we could pull off a sneaky draw. ill go with 2-2. Hazard and Torres for Chelsea and Le-Fondre and the Pog for us.
Thanks again for your answers Matt, and we at Chelsea wish you all the best for the season, starting after todays game.
What do you all think the score will be tonight? Can we keep up the form showed in the Wigan game, and will Cech keep consecutive clean-sheets?
