Weekend Review

While it seemed that this weekend was not a disaster for Chelsea, looking above them, they still have their hopes on 4th place, after drawing at home to Spurs, keeping them just 5 points away with 8 games to be played.
However, on Sunday, Newcastle crept up on Chelsea, looking to end their bid for Europe all together, and trying desperately to take that 5th spot off them.
Newcastle comfortably beat West Brom 3-1 away from home, leaving them just behind the Londoners on goal difference, and European qualification a huge possibility.
It was a good weekend for betting, as I had the Newcastle win at 21/10, but unfortunately fell short on the Under 2.5 goals bet, but leaving myself 6.5 points up from that game, as I use £1 per point, I was up £6.50 from the game, hope people got on my bets too!
With our draw against Tottenham, it seemed Arsenal would undoubtedly put Chelseas third place ambition out of reach, and they did, comfortably beating Aston Villa by 3 goals to nil, just as I predicted on Friday. A late Arteta strike made sure two of my bets came in, the Arsenal to win both halves at 7/4, and the 3-0 predicted scoreline. I also had Arsenal to win to nil, which also came in, making a profit of £17 from that game, minus the predicted scoreline, which would have been lovely odds.
After some of the scorelines this season, not many predicted a 0-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge, had Chelsea nicked a goal in the second half, I would’ve been £25 from the game, but unfortunately ended up £14 down, luckily made up from the other games.
So, Chelseas first priority now is to win their games, and try and catch Spurs, whilst not worrying about Newcastle behind them.
First up is Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday, whilst the weekend sees us match up away at Aston Villa, while Spurs and Newcastle both play at home on Sunday, against Swansea and Liverpool respectively.
I will bring you team news, and my thoughts on the Champions League games late on Monday, lets see if we can have a strong performance away from home, and a decent result to bring back to Stamford Bridge.
