Sturridge Unsure On Chelsea Future.

A host of Premier League clubs are reportedly keeping an eye on Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, as their Champions League future hangs in the balance.

Should the Blues fail to finish in the top four in the league, they would face the mammoth task of having to win the competition this season, with the Spanish giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, and the German side Bayern Munchen still in the competiton.

The Londoners currently sit 5 points behind rivals Tottenham, with 8 games remaining, and also have Newcastle behind them only on goal difference.

Arsenal are reportedly very keen on the 22-year old, as well as Manchester City, whom he used to play for.

Sturridge is also dismayed with having to settle for a place on the wing, which he was confined to under former boss Andre Villas Boas, and which current interim boss Roberto Di Matteo has not changed, and also given players like Salomon Kalou a chance to shine, leaving competition for places very high.

Speaking to The Sun, earlier this week, Sturridge said “That’s the position I will always pick myself, centre-forward.

“But whatever position the manager picks me in I’m happy and right now, for the team, I’m in the wide position.”

However, should a Champions League come knocking at seasons end, Sturridge may well be tempted to walk.

There is no sign of who the new manager may be at Stamford Bridge yet, but he is likely to be given funds to shake around with the squad, which could see a host of big names leaving, with Sturridge possibly being one of them.

Chelsea are next in action on Saturday, away at an Aston Villa side who have won just once of their last seven games, and a game which Chelsea must win to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Studge thinks highly of himself, I'll give him that. Does he think he'll supplant Van Persie or Balotelli/ Dzedko if he waltzes into those squads? He'll play where the Manager wants him to play and shut his freaking trap. Or go play in the Championship if he wants to be able to dictate exactly where he plays and how often. He's a nice talent, with LOTS and LOTS to learn about team play, passing, and hitting the target. If they can't get him to sort his head out, sell him to Italy and let him run his mouth there.

Good! The sooner the greedy sod goes the better. Lets cash in on the over rated wannabe who seems to have a very high opinion of himself. Has he scored since Xmas? We get it rammed down our throats when Torres doesn't score. Against Leicester Sturridge was so poor (and greedy) that he cost Torres another couple of goals and certainly his hat trick. I cannot remember Sturridge EVER scoring more than ONE goal at Senior level in a game. All he is interested in is getting his name on the score sheet end of. A very greedy player and certainly no team player. Chelsea should offer him to City in a deal to bring Aguero to Stamford Bridge.

Some good comments. I think he suddenly got touted a bit too highly because of England call-up and Torres/Drogba poor league form.

Be interesting to see what happens in the summer. No Euro call might bring him down to earth, and a drop down the pecking order.
