Demba Ba On Chelsea Radar

As we revealed to you last week, Chelsea are weighing up a double swoop for Newcastle pair Tim Krul and Chiek Tiote, but there is a possibility a third player might be on their list, in the form of Demba Ba.
The 26 year old striker has done exceptionally well since arriving in England, both with West Ham and now Newcastle, and is deemed a long term solution for Didier Drogba, who is now 34.
Chelsea are looking to rebuild in the summer, and a striker seems priority, although Fernando Torres seems to be returning to some sort of form, they still need to buy, and Edinson Cavani is another name being touted, but Ba would be a cheaper alternative, as well as already proving himself in the Premier League.
Former Chelsea player Arjen Robben could also have a chance of returning to the Bridge, revealing yesterday in the German newspaper Bild, that “It cannot be said that I am 100% certain I will stay with Bayern, a lot has happened in recent weeks and I didn’t play for three weeks in a row”
Robben would no doubt be keen on a return to London, and with Florent Malouda unhappy, and Kalou struggling to impress, many would assume he would command a first team place, although Manchester City are reported keen, if he wanted regular games, surely Chelsea would be the more obvious choice.
It has also been rumoured that Pep Guardiola is closely monitoring David Luiz as a possible signing for his Barcelona side, as a long term replacement for Carlos Puyol.
Luiz has a bit of a Marmite relationship with the Chelsea fans, with his erratic performances, although he was excellent against Napoli last week. The Catalan side have been forced to play Javier Mascherano at centre-back for large chunks of the season, and although he has impressed, it seems they are keen on Luiz to fill that void.
Though, as John Terry is now 31, Abramovich may be keen to keep hold of Luiz, and money certainly isn’t a problem for the Russian billionaire.
What is for sure is that there will be a large turnaround at Stamford Bridge this season, most likely after a new manager is appointed, with Barcelonas head coach Guardiola being one of those on the shortlist, although former boss Jose Mourinho remains the bookies favourites.
