Whilst a fee of £7m has been agreed for Bolton’s Gary Cahill it is still unsure whether the deal will go ahead due to the player’s financial demands.
It is believed that the player is looking for £100,000 a week contract as well as a £4m signing-on fee which Chelsea are reluctant to pay.
The defender who scored in Wednesday’s win over Everton is thought to be unhappy that discussions have been made public and that he is being seen as greedy after Andre Villas-Boas commented that the club and Cahill were “miles apart” concerning personal terms.
There has been a meeting to discuss terms, but the Cahill camp feel his demands are fair for the quality of player Chelsea will get plus the club a saving a lot on the transfer fee as he only six months remaining on his current contract.
The central defender would be an excellent signing for Chelsea, it is an area of the pitch where the Blues have struggled this season and they should sort a deal quickly, as as there are now rumours the Manchester United are also keen on signing him.
