Cahill deal almost done

Chelsea expect to complete the transfer of Bolton defender Gary Cahill’s for £7m.

Since agreeing a fee at the end of last month for the England international the Blues have been in talks with players’ representatives.

Initially Andre Villas-Boas said that the player and the club were ‘miles apart’ but it looks likes those issues have been resolved.

With the delay in agreeing terms both Tottenham and Manchester United had been linked with a move for the player.

As Chelsea look to sell Alex it has made it even more important to bring in defensive replacements.

Had Chelsea have signed him at the start of the season it would have cost a lot more but with just six months to go until his contract expires.
