A very controversial few days in the Premier League but with plenty of goals.
Goal of the weekend
Sergio Aguero‘s strike v Norwich City. The Manchester City striker had five yellow shirts around him but he somehow managed to jiggle his way through and toe-poke the ball past goalkeeper John Ruddy.
Save of the weekend
Keiren Westwood in the Sunderland goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The new Black Cat’s number one made a terrific reflex save to deny Stephen Hunt at the far post, who believed he scored as he even started celebrating.
Club of the weekend
Wolves. After going a goal down at home to a newly managed Sunderland side, the Molineux outfit turned the game around in eight minutes through striker Steven Fletcher. The desire and motivation was there to grab three vital points and that is what earned Wolves this status for the week.
Player of the weekend
Blackburn Rovers’ Yakubu. The striker was on the score sheet again and not once, not twice, not three times, but four! He’s turning out to be a great summer freebie and his goals alone could keep Blackburn up.

Miss of the weekend
Sebastian Larsson’s penalty against Wolves. After the Swede went down theatrically, the penalty was awarded but for the winger to shoot it straight at Wayne Hennesey. The ‘keeper then released the ball and 30 seconds later, Wolves equalise – now that’s justice right there.
Worst decision of the weekend
Alot of bad decisions but Mike Dean should have sent off David Luiz. After only four minutes in at Sports Direct Arena, Newcastle United star Demba Ba was clean through on goal, but Chelsea’s Luiz made sure he didn’t score by bundling him over. Referee Dean awarded United a free-kick and Luiz only got a yellow.
What went wrong?
The luck was against Newcastle. Firstly, David Luiz should have been sent off early on (see above), then they hit the woodwork three times throughout the game. In addition, their two key central defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor both sustained injuries, with the latter out for the rest of the season.
