Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is monitoring fellow countryman Vitor Gomes, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old who plays for Rio Ave can play as a defensive midfielder as well as a right-back, it is though that AVB is keen to sign competition for Jose Bosingwa and with Gomes likely to be available for just £5m he could be an excellent option.
Gomes’s agent is Jorge Mendes, and it has been reported that Chelsea have already sent scouts to see if he would be worth signing.
