The sad news coming from Stamford Bridge is that ex-player Reg Williams has died at the age of 89.
During his career his career he struggled with injuries, which left him restricted to only featuring 74 times in six seasons for the Blues, just after the Second World War.
He is believed to the last surviving player of the Chelsea team that famously drew 3-3 with Dynamo Moscow at Stamford Bridge on November 13th, 1945, a match that was significantly the first game to be played at the stadium after the war had ended – Williams was even one of the scorers on the day.
Our best wishes and thoughts are with his family.
