Florent Malouda is the latest Chelsea player to book his place in Ukraine and Poland for next summer’s European Championships.
The winger was a part of the French side that earned a 1-1 draw at home to Bosnia & Herzegovina on Tuesday night, playing the first hour in Paris as his side trailed an Edin Dzeko goal, only for Dzeko’s Man City team-mate Samir Nasri to strike a late penalty to send the French through. Bosnia will now go to the play-offs.
Raul Meireles and Petr Cech however must participate in next month’s play-offs having finished second in their respective groups, while there will be a summer of rest for Romelu Lukaku, Branislav Ivanovic and Yossi Benayoun, whose Israel side went into the final round of qualifying matches knowing they could not reach their group leaders Greece and Croatia.
