Reports suggest that Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon was on his way to the Bridge back in January but the proposed move was blocked by ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho, after an angry argument which made Leon feel ‘humiliated’.
He had joined Real Madrid for £10million from Getafe last summer, but has failed to become a first-team regular starting lineup, and then in September 2010 he was left out of the Champions League squad for the Auxerre match, something that saw him criticised by the media.
Mourinho stood by his decision be saying: “You talk of Pedro Leon as if he was Zinedine Zidane or Diego Maradona or Alfredo di Stefano. When he works how I like him to, it will be easier for him to play, and when he doesn’t, it will be harder for him to play.”
Comments that left Leon feeling ‘humiliated’, the Jose further upset the winger by stopping a January move to London. Leon only played another six games for Real, before going back to his old club Getafe on loan in January, if all goes well the move could become permanent.
