John Mikel Obi has appealed to his father’s abductors for his safe for the return, he has now been missing for three days.
The Nigerian made a plea to the press yesterday:
“I want to say to whoever has got my dad, please let him go, he is an old man, he has not done any harm to anyone. I don’t know why he has been taken. My family and my mum especially are very sad and frustrated. Hopefully in the next 24 hours we can get some information.“I’ve always tried to help my country in every way I can, playing for them, serving them. This is the time for the country to help me. Whoever has got my dad, whoever knows where he is, please contact me and hopefully he can be released.“We have not heard anything. I don’t have any idea who might have taken him. But they will know who my dad is, and who his son is.”
It is unknown what the kidnappers want as they have not come forward with any ransom notes.
The police are completing a widespread search in Jos for Michael Obi following his disappearance on Friday.
The Blues started admitted:
“My family have lived there all their lives so they will know who he is and who I am.“This happens a lot in the eastern part of Nigeria but my dad would probably be the first this has happened to in the northern part which is a very safe place, this is very rare and is surprising everyone.”
Despite knowing that his father was missing, John Mikel Obi opted to play against Stoke as something he and his mum wanted him to do.
We all hope that his father is returned safetly in the near future and our thoughts are with him and his family.
