Could Yossi be used as bait for Luka???

published :

It is thought that Chelsea are considering offering Yossi Benayoun as part of their new offer for Luka Modric.
Harry Redknapp is a long-time admirer of Benayoun and even tried to bring him to White Hart Lane last summer, with the loss of Steven Pienaar for six weeks, an attractive cash offer plus the Israeli international could lead to Spurs changing their mind about selling the Croatian star.
The ex-Liverpool winger has had a good pre-season but has struggled with injury since his move back to London. Even if he stays fit, he is unlikely to play regularly, whereas at Tottenham he is likely to feature a lot more.
So far Spurs have rejected two bids, the first was thought to be worth £22m and then Andre Villas-Boas saw an improved bid of £27m also turned down. The North London club are desperate to hold on to their star and see him as key player if they are to finish in the top four.
For a fee to be agreed it Chelsea will have to offer in excess of £30m plus Yossi.
