Blues bid for Alvaro Pereira

It is understood that Chelsea have made a bid for Porto’s left-sided Uruguayan midfielder Alvaro Pereira.
The 25-year-old played under Andre Villas-Boas last season and there have been plenty of rumours over the last few weeks that he would make a move his player.
Whilst Pereira could be seen as a replacement for Yuri Zhirkov, who recently joined Russian outfit FC Anzhi Makhachkala, he will feature a lot more than the Russian did.
Pereira started his career in his homeland of in Uruguay with Miremar Misiones and went on to play for Quilmes and Argentinos Juniors before making the move to Europe where he joined Romanian side CFR Cluj.
He only joined Porto in 2009, but was an instrumental part of their squad as they won the treble last season.
It is thought that Pereira has a £25million release clause, but Chelsea are likely to be looking to pay less than that.
