The Week That Was …

published :

It was a quiet week for Chesea gossip, there were mutterings about Luka Modric, Andre’s old boys and talk of ex-Blues being on the move, plus a dancing star!!!

Early in the week, the Daily Mirror reported that Roman Abramovich’s luxury yacht was moored in Croatia as he was waiting Luka Modric to head to London to discuss his future with Tottenham.

WEDNESDAY saw TALKSPORT run with the story that Porto’s Falcao had come out and said he would love to play in the Premier League next season, giving the Blues hope that if a £26.5m bid was accepted then the player would jump at the chance to move. The Guardian reported that QPR are interested in ex-Blue Carlton Cole who is available for around £6m.

On THURSDAY, there was more talk of ex-player looking to jump ship from Upton Park – The Daily Star said Scott Parker is wanted by Fenerbache, but it is thought he wants to stay in England. According to the Daily Mail the Hammers are going to try and tempt Joe Cole back to London with a loan move following his poor first season with Liverpool. In the Metro, Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge was caught dancing live on Jamaican TV when he was on a morning talk show.

There was more talk in the Sun on FRIDAY about Chelsea’s interest in £9m Genk keeper Thibaut Courtois, who they see an excellent long-term replacement ofr Petr Cech.

On SATURDAY, the Mirror ran two stories – firstly, that Michael Essien could miss all of next season after damaging his knee ligaments on Friday. The other article linked ex-Blue Cartlon Cole with a move to Stoke, so will it be a move North for £4.5m or to QPR as suggested earlier in the week for £6m?

On SUNDAY, the Sunday Express wrote that Carlos Tevez and Luka Modric could both be on their way to Stamford Bridge in an incredible £80m double deal. Meanwhile, according to the Sun former coach Ray Wilkins believes Tottenham are wasting their time trying to keep midfielder Luka Modric, having said: “I think it will be extremely difficult for Tottenham to hold on to Modric if you look at the numbers being thrown around.”

And finally, the Blues along with the two Manchester Clubs, Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are chasing Anderlecht’s 14-year-old midfielder Charly Musonda.
