Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich has given the Chelsea management the green light to make an improved offer of around £40m to Spurs for Luka Modric after Javier Pastore opted for Paris Saint-Germain.
After talks with Daniel Levy and Harry Redknapp, it is thought that the Croatian had dropped his transfer request, but the news that title hopefuls Chelsea are still interested could lead to a change of heart from the talented midfielder.
When asked last week the £35m bid that had been rejected, Redknapp said: ‘He is worth an awful lot more money.
And once again confirmed: “We’re not looking to sell Luka, it is in the hands of the chairman. It’s not my decision at the end of the day.”
The increased figure of £40m could well lead to Levy changing his mind, and deciding to sell his star but it is a case watch this space ….
