Player’s Talent
Sergio Aguero has the exact type of skills Chelsea is looking for. He is one of the most skillful players of his generation, blessed with creativity, vision, pace and accuracy in front of the goals. He would bring the kind of talent which has been lacking at the Bridge since the likes of Robben and Duff departed. Aguero reminds me of the players such as Zola and Alessandro Del Piero, because he possesses the vision and skills of a proper number ten, along with the finishing and goal scoring abilities of a penalty box predator number nine. He is the perfect prototype of what used to be referred to in the game as a nine and a half.
Player’s/Club’s will
Sergio Aguero has expressed the desire to leave Athletico, and the club does not intend on standing in his way as long as his release clause is activated. Real Madrid , Manchester City and Juventus are rumored to be willing to meet Aguero’s 40 million pound release clause. The player has expressed the desire to remain in Spain rather than move abroad, therefore making Real Madrid his most likely destination. However, Athletico Madrid would be reluctant to sell its best player to its archrival. For that reason, Juventus and City stand a better chance of getting the Argentine player as long as they match Madrid’s potential offer. If Chelsea were to show genuine interest for him, Aguero would fancy a move to London and the opportunity to link up with once partner Fernando Torres, as he has indicated in the past.
Player’s age
Sergio Aguero is only 23 years old, and yet, he has managed 234 games, 102 goals and 37 assists for Athletico, over the course of 5 seasons in the Spanish capital. These are outstanding statistics for a support striker playing in the one of the two best leagues in the world. Despite his young age, Sergio Aguero has tremendous experience. He would definitely help freshen up Chelsea’s ageing squad, and has the advantage of already being a recognized and valuable striker.
Potential of a successful partnership with Torres
The Aguero/Torres partnership was once one of the most feared in Spain, where they made up Athletico Madrid’s strike force. Both players know each other and complete each other well. Aguero has the ability to score, but also setup plays on either flank or through the middle, and create chances for a central forward like Torres to score. Contrary to Torres, he enjoys time on the ball, dropping deep to collect the ball, and making plays by taking on players or picking the right pass. Torres on the other hand is a penalty box kind of striker and enjoys receiving the ball close that area, and in-between the defensive lines. These two are a perfect match, and Abrahmovic’s money would be well spent on Aguero.
