CHELSEA’S NUMBER ONE TARGET SHOULD BE SERGIO AGUERO

published :

While Chelsea has once again been linked to a multitude of high profile players in the current Mercato, I have no doubt that the club’s number one target should be Sergio Aguero. All the conditions seem to be met for Aguero to be a successful recruit for the blues, and I’ll explain why.

Player’s Talent

Sergio Aguero has the exact type of skills Chelsea is looking for. He is one of the most skillful players of his generation, blessed with creativity, vision, pace and accuracy in front of the goals. He would bring the kind of talent which has been lacking at the Bridge since the likes of Robben and Duff departed. Aguero reminds me of the players such as Zola and Alessandro Del Piero, because he possesses the vision and skills of a proper number ten, along with the finishing and goal scoring abilities of a penalty box predator number nine. He is the perfect prototype of what used to be referred to in the game as a nine and a half.

Player’s/Club’s will

Sergio Aguero has expressed the desire to leave Athletico, and the club does not intend on standing in his way as long as his release clause is activated. Real Madrid , Manchester City and Juventus are rumored to be willing to meet Aguero’s 40 million pound release clause. The player has expressed the desire to remain in Spain rather than move abroad, therefore making Real Madrid his most likely destination. However, Athletico Madrid would be reluctant to sell its best player to its archrival. For that reason, Juventus and City stand a better chance of getting the Argentine player as long as they match Madrid’s potential offer. If Chelsea were to show genuine interest for him, Aguero would fancy a move to London and the opportunity to link up with once partner Fernando Torres, as he has indicated in the past.

Player’s age

Sergio Aguero is only 23 years old, and yet, he has managed 234 games, 102 goals and 37 assists for Athletico, over the course of 5 seasons in the Spanish capital. These are outstanding statistics for a support striker playing in the one of the two best leagues in the world. Despite his young age, Sergio Aguero has tremendous experience. He would definitely help freshen up Chelsea’s ageing squad, and has the advantage of already being a recognized and valuable striker.

Potential of a successful partnership with Torres

The Aguero/Torres partnership was once one of the most feared in Spain, where they made up Athletico Madrid’s strike force. Both players know each other and complete each other well. Aguero has the ability to score, but also setup plays on either flank or through the middle, and create chances for a central forward like Torres to score. Contrary to Torres, he enjoys time on the ball, dropping deep to collect the ball, and making plays by taking on players or picking the right pass. Torres on the other hand is a penalty box kind of striker and enjoys receiving the ball close that area, and in-between the defensive lines. These two are a perfect match, and Abrahmovic’s money would be well spent on Aguero.

Completly agree, should have got him done and dusted ages ago, exactly the sort of player we need, a tevez like player who is a none stop worker and can produce brilliance but sadly I think he will be going to city. If we got him, im sure he would be our best signing for many years.
Stop getting all these teenagers who wont be ready for years ( if ever knowing chelsea's policy with youth ), and get some players who are ready and able now, are midfield has gone from being the best in the top 4 to prob the worst in a matter of a few years. If we dont get a few top draw players this summer, then we will get left behind. Last seasons team wasnt good enough and this season, they are just a bit older. Pull ya finger out blues and make some signings.

This has been my wish for abt 3years now and I'm glad to know that other Chelsea fans feel the same way, he should be our main objective right now, just look at what he is doing at the copa america right now and who could forget what he did to us in the cl.

I agree aswell i believe we need a striker that will complement torres will work hard aswell like tevez and plus he's very skillful and will score goals. I remember the two he scored against use in the champions league a couple years back. I would also love to see us go for a winger who can give us a bit of width as it looks like AVB is going to play 4-4-3 i would like to see eden hazard he can give us width and put in good balls and will chip in with a few goals. and if city do end up getting aguero instead of us then i say we put in a cheeky bid for balotelli even though he's an idiot at times he can easily be the best in the world.

Glad you enjoyed the article. I've also wanted Aguero at Chelsea for a while now. He has expressed the desire to join Chelsea before, but I think the main problem was he didn't feel ready to leave Athletico. Now that he and the club agree he will leave, we have a clear opportunity to snatch him. I'm sure given the choice between Chelsea and City, he would pick Chelsea. The question now is will Chelsea bid for him?? hope so ..
I you were to pick 3 players to join Chelsea, who would you pick? I would pick Sneijder, Aguero and Sanchez.

Aguero is a great player, yes no doubt, but have we forgotten there's a problem? His wage demands, from what i know its over 200k which if you ask me is too much for a 23 year old regardless of his skills and talent….,he is a perfect player for chelsea…if he is asking for anything less than 150k,i would personaly fund the bid for chelsea…hahahahaha…up blues

Yeah.. that's right he is supposedly asking for 200k/week, but to be if he was offered same wage as Terry and Torres (highest paid) I think he would consider the offer.

I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome. klcghq klcghq – red bottom sole.
