Chelsea have come to an agreement with Barcelona to sign Spanish defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu, but the deal will not be completed in the near future.
The Spaniard is currently representing Spain at the Under-20 World Cup in Columbia, the competition starts on July 29th and finishes on August 20th. Once that is over the player will have his medical and need to agree personal terms.
Villas-Boas told a news conference in Bangkok: “It’s a sector in which we’re struggling with numbers.
Before adding: “Oriol is a player with a bright future, he still has to evolve and prove himself as a player. He’s one of the most interesting bright young players.
And finishing with: “Hopefully we can agree terms and he can pass a medical.”
The midfield player was a youth player with Espanyol before deflecting to neighbours Barcelona in 2004, since then he has play 49 times for the reserve team and finally made his first-team debut in May.
