Blues off to a winning start …

published :

Andre Villas-Boas’s reign got off to winning start yesterday, as they beat League One side Wycombe 3-0 behind closed doors.
Villas-Boas gave 23 players a run-out, but the best news on the night was that Fernando Torres got on the scoresheet when he netting the second goal of the game.
The other goals came from Yossi Benayoun and Slobodan Rajkovic, after struggling with injury last season Benayoun will want to get a full pre-season behind him so Blues’ fans can see the best of him.

This typical banana skin pre season game would have been a break from training and meetings for both the players and AVB and Di Matteo. A meaningless result but in the context of wanting to win everytime, even at cards or pool, it would have blown a few cobwebs away. Good to hear that both Torres and Yossi got on the scoresheet.

Exactly Alan, friendlies are there for fitness – If team wins all pre-season games but then go on to lose first three games of the season then means nothing. There to get players reader and to blend new blood when they arrive …
